in producing jade up and

handicrafts of jade.
Luminous cups are drinking
vessels made of jade.
When the cup is filled
with wine and put under
moon light, it shines
as bright as moon light,
that is why people call
it Luminous Cup. It is
said as early as in Zhou
Dynasty luminous cups
had been presented as
tributes to the court.
Luminous-cup products
produced in Jiuquan are
varied in shape, size
and material. Traditional
luminous cups include
fat-bottomed cups, high-legged
cups and tea-set cups.
Cups in style of the ancient
times are Jue (wine vessel
with three legs and a
loop handle), shang, Gong
(made of horn ) and Zun.
They all look beautiful,
colorful, thin, smooth,
bright and crystal with
natural veins. Wine poured
in these cups seems to
be specially tasty.
Since open of China, the
factory has been one of
the major tourist attractions
in the region. More than
thirty thousand of people
came to visit the factory.
Visitors can see the whole
process of manufacture
in workshop. They bought
a lot of them as souvenirs
and gilts. The cups have
been exported to many
countries as well as Hong
Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
