| Sacrifice and Funeral People
hold four times of sacrifice of memorial ceremony
for their ancestors or their very close dead
relatives every year, according to lunar calendar,
on the 5th of the 4th month, on the 15th of
the 7th month, on the 1st of the 10th month
and the 30th of 12th month. They sweep the graves,
burn nether money and joss sticks while offer
sacrifices. In old days, when his parent died,
the dutiful son had to put on mourning dress
and called on every family of the clan or close
neighborhoods to inform them the death of his
parent. When he arrived, he had to kneel down
and kowtow outdoors and then left without exception.
Even when he ran into strangers or horse or
cart on his way, he had to kneel down. So local
people said that the dutiful son's head was
not worth a penny. The custom is no long in
existence in town, but it still exists in remote
country. People should do away with it
